Two practical differences: it is kept in UK stock, so it typically reaches you in 5–7 working days instead of after a four-to-five week build; and it arrives flat-packed in a single box for you to assemble, where the made-to-order chair is delivered fully built. A full synchromatic mechanism, a 70 mm sliding seat and a height-adjustable backrest – free-flow recline with an adjustable tension control wheel, integrated forward tilt for close desk work, and seat tilt adjustment. Cold-moulded polyurethane foam on seat and backrest, with the upholstery applied without adhesive, on a five-star base with load-controlled braked twin castors (EN 12529). Rated to a 150 kg user weight.

Seven adjustments, and the order to make them in – once assembled, the chair starts out set for an average body. Five minutes spent in this order is the difference between a chair that is fine and one you stop noticing.

• Seat height (41–54 cm): set your feet flat on the floor with your knees near a 90° angle. This sets everything else.
• Seat depth (70 mm slide): adjust until there is a 20–40 mm gap behind your knees.
• Backrest height: raise or lower the backrest so it supports your lower back, rather than pressing between the shoulder blades.
• Lumbar support: set it to meet the inward curve of your lower back. Support should feel present, not pushy.
• Recline tension: turn the tension control wheel until leaning back takes light effort rather than a shove, or leave the recline free-flowing.
• Armrests (2D): set the height so your shoulders stay down and relaxed, then the width so your elbows sit close to your body rather than out to the sides.
• Seat tilt and forward tilt: tips the seat slightly forward for close desk work, which keeps the hips open and the lower back from rounding.
